James E. Meyer, DVM, CVA
Dr. Jim is co-owner of Neuse River Veterinary Hospital. He is a 1976 graduate of the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Jim practices equine and small animal medicine with his focus in acupuncture and chiropractic care. He along with wife Sue, own, breed, and show Arabian and Half-Arabian horses, they also race purebred Arabians.
Robert J. Meyer, DVM
Dr. Bob is co-owner of Neuse River Veterinary Hospital. He is a 1984 graduate of University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine. He practices equine and small animal medicine with special interest in sport horse medicine equine reproduction, and small animal surgery. Dr. Bob, his wife Lynn, ans son Lane live in Wake Forest. They own, breed, and show American Quarter horses and participate in cutting events.
Susan, wife of Dr. Jim Meyer, has been Neuse River Veterinary Hospital's Hospital Administrator since 1987. She and Jim
raise Arabian horses and enjoy showing and racing. Susan is a horse show judge and has judged across the United States and
Canada, as well internationally in such places as Australia, South Africa, Venezuela and Israel. She serves on multiple boards
within the horse industry, including the N.C. State University Equine Advisory Board, the board of the Arabian Horse
Association, a trustee for the Purebred Arabian Trust and the N.C. Horse Council. Their family includes three dogs, four cats,
and 15 horses.
Our Facility is 11,000 sq. ft.with separate small animal and large animal surgery suites. We have an intensive care ward, on-site laboratory, small animal x-ray unit, multiple portable large animal x-ray units, digital x-ray unit, as well as ultrasound units for both equine and small animal patients. The hospital offers indoor runs for dogs and "kitty condominiums" for boarding. Our equine facility includes four indoor stalls, large round pen and easy access for trailers.
